Every New Year doesn’t seem so different from the last. Maybe your hair was a bit shorter last January 1^st, or you now have a couple of new friends. But generally speaking, one year doesn’t seem much in terms of change.

Years, however, build up into decades, and decades into centuries, and we don’t need to tell you how different the world is between 1990 and 2015, or between 1800 and 1980.
